Drew Gulak Quits WWE
The former Cruiserweight Champion has left the company after his contract expired.
Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak has left WWE after failing to come to terms on a new contract, Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin has reported.
Reports initially suggested that the 33-year-old had been released after his profile was moved to the Alumni section on the WWE website. However, Satin stated that: "His contract was coming due or expired and he chose not to re-sign."
The news comes as something of a surprise as Gulak has been feuding with, and later acting as the coach of, Daniel Bryan in recent months, with the pair having a great match in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament just a few days ago on Friday Night SmackDown. Gulak had even posted a video offering training advice to Bryan just hours before the reports of his departure emerged.
Gulak signed with the WWE in 2016 and participated in the Cruiserweight Classic, reaching the second round before being eliminated by Zack Sabre Jr. He would go on to become one of the mainstays on 205 Live, holding the cruiserweight belt for over 100 days before moving to SmackDown as part of the 2019 Draft.
