He joins the growing group of voices to enter a discussion that sparked to life last week, bringing countless allegations of sexual harassment, abuse, and assault initially in the British wrestling circuit, but quickly stretching around the globe.

A number of WWE-affiliated wrestlers have been implicated, including Matt Riddle (who debuted on SmackDown last Friday), Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven, Ligero, Wolfgang, and Sid Scala. Jack Gallagher is the only accused wrestler that the promotion has released thus far.

McIntyre's statement makes him one of the biggest names to throw his support behind a movement designed to highlight and expose an abusive backstage culture and hold those responsible accountable. Yorkshire Police are currently involved in #SpeakingOut in the United Kingdom.

McIntyre has been back under WWE contract since 2017, having previously been employed by the promotion between 2007 and 2014. He became WWE Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 and most recently defeated Bobby Lashley to retain his strap at Backlash 2020.
