Every AEW PPV Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Revolution 2021
Elements of the show were fantastic, but again: you don't watch a wrestling show in the thrill of the moment to think "Shame about that infamously sh*tty finish, the match alone will be great viewed in edited form a few months later!"
You watch a wrestling show to feel things. What AEW fans felt after that dud of an explosion was painful, vicarious embarrassment.
The notorious Kenny Omega Vs. Jon Moxley match was a phenomenal and true update on the legendary death matches of yore. Watching Mox subvert the suspense trope by immediately f*cking Omega up with a second consecutive explosion was exhilarating. It didn't matter. The finish was so dire that the realest men in wrestling, Mox and Eddie Kingston, looked like pitiful Terry Funk and Atsushi Onita cosplayers.
Elsewhere, the action ranged from excellent, to good if overlong, to solid, which by 2021 standards is just a bit boring.
The Young Bucks Vs. MJF & Chris Jericho was an awesomely fun hybrid of the old and new schools of storytelling. The Casino Ladder Match was committed and brutal, but baggy. Hangman Page Vs. Matt Hardy was a gentleman's three that was more admirable than electrifying.
The Sting & Darby Allin Vs. Team Taz Street Fight was really well done, and Allin took a wicked beating, but by that point, with the vaccine roll-out in full effect, the Cinematic match felt something a bit less like an acceptable compromise.
