Every AEW World Championship Reign Ranked Worst To Best
1. Jon Moxley - First Reign
Won: Revolution (29/02/2020). Previous Champion: Chris Jericho. Length: 277 days.
It's not hyperbole to say that Tony Khan, the EVPs and AEW, in general, owe Jon Moxley a debt of gratitude. The former Dean Ambrose has (as stated earlier) carried AEW on his back with his star-power, great matches, dependability and, of course, his impressive title reign.
Moxley was the first wrestler to properly get the best of Chris Jericho, taking the strap from Le Champion and holding it proudly for 277 days. During this time, he put on a slew of stellar matches with the likes of Darby Allin, Brodie Lee, MJF and more. Still, one of the biggest highlights was his critically acclaimed feud with long-time friend Eddie Kingston - which turned the latter into the unsung hero of the promotion.
The former Shield Brother is the perfect champion for AEW as he's visceral, drops brilliant promos and is always willing to go the extra mile to make a match feel special. This hard work earned him the title of 2020 Wrestler of the Year from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Between Moxley ruling AEW's main event, Seth Rollins killing it on Raw and Roman Reigns dominating SmackDown, it's safe to say The Shield are firmly taking charge of the whole wrestling industry.
