It’s so close to great.

Clearly inspired by the ‘Big Gold Belt’ of yore, the size, the ornate detailing on the main plate, the understated use of studded gems: it all converges to lend the belt a look of vintage prestige and accomplishment.

The thing is, with these belts now doubling as marketing tools when they’re awarded to sports teams and such, the promotion feels the need to whack a massive WWE logo front and centre. It’s gigantic, distracting, ugly, and - given that the WWE Undisputed title is invariably handed over to the SuperBowl winners - pointless.

It’s not a subtle effect, either. The protuberance of the globe makes it seem as if the Big Gold Belt has a hernia.
