Every NXT TakeOver Main Event In History: Ranked

Round 2 for Gargano and Cole and it was almost as good as their New York bout, but it just fell short, barely. However, that is in no way suggesting that this was a bad bout it’s quite the opposite. AEW’s Double or Nothing event had taken place a week prior and NXT needed to respond and respond hard, Cole and Gargano did just that and then some.

Both men have insane chemistry and it shows every time they share a ring with their back-and-forth action flowing so smoothly. For every move, there was a counter, for every stiff strike, there was an even stiffer return. Cole and Gargano both looked every bit of the seasoned veterans that they are, with Gargano’s babyface fire on full throttle, complemented perfectly by Cole’s desperate heel schtick. In a simple story told so well, it was may the best man win, and on the night, Cole was the better man and was rewarded so with the gold.

Thank God that this wasn’t Gargano’s NXT swansong as thankfully, he stuck around and was able to continue producing classics such as this.
