With Bray Wyatt out of their SummerSlam rematch thanks to injury, in stepped AJ Styles as a replacement. 2017’s TLC event saw the two former leaders of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Bullet Club face off in a hotly anticipated matchup that few thought they would ever see, let alone as a substitute match on a B-level WWE pay-per-view.

Furthermore, Finn’s Demon King persona felt more out of place than ever as he was no longer engaged in a blood feud with the dastardly Bray Wyatt, but was instead engaged in a sporting bout with a respected competitor. Despite this, Bálor’s Demon warpaint was one of the most unique incarnations to date.

The agape, fanged mouth on his chest was gone. Instead, an outline of smaller fangs covered Bálor’s mouth, while his shoulders and chest were adorned with the hands and faces of smaller demons clawing their way out. In addition, his back featured a full figured silhouette of a winged and fanged demon. It was an understated look for the Demon but a welcome change from the always present open mouth look fans had become used to.
