A "Eurocontinental" Champion when it was still possible to make that term sound like it meant something, Kurt Angle shot to fame in WWE rather rapidly after an intentionally tepid late-1999 debut.

He took both belts into a scorching Triple Threat with Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho and lost them both, only helping him flex comedic muscles en route to King Of The Ring and WWE Championship glory later in the year.
