Now we get into the Kings of the Ring who saw their WWF/E careers really take off after winning the tournament.

Heading into the 2001 KOTR, Edge already was a multi-time tag team champion and former Intercontinental Champion, but he was not seriously viewed as a singles threat.

After he won the King of the Ring tournament, Edge followed up by winning the Intercontinental Championship three times and the United States Championship once in a five-month period. Edge remained a featured superstar in WWF/E for the course of his entire career, finally winning the first Money in the Bank ladder match in 2005 and cashing in to win his first world title in 2006.

In the decade between winning KOTR and when he was forced to retire for nine years, Edge won 11 World championships and four of his five IC titles. But his 2001 King of the Ring win was a huge singles accolade that helped spur a lot of his individual success.
