Then: Well, Wesley Blake lasted a few months longer than his old Forgotten Sons partner Steve Cutler at least. Steve was let go in February 2021, but Blake lingered on until April. It was a stay of creative execution for the man, because the writing team blatantly had nothing left for him to do.

They were all out of ideas, so he packed his bags and tried his luck elsewhere.

Now: Some work on the independent scene and exactly one match for AEW (a loss to Daniel Garcia on the 23 August 2022 episode of old 'C'/'D' show Dark) followed. Either Tony Khan decided against offering Blake a contract or he had other things in mind. It's hard to tell, but Tony can't sign every ex-WWE star who comes along. Right?!

Ahem.

By 2024, Wes had returned to WWE as a Performance Center coach and as a producer on NXT. He was picking up the pieces of his shattered personal life at that stage, sadly. Blake's wife Sara Lee tragically passed away aged just 30 years old on 5 October 2022. That news shocked the entire wrestling world.

Lee had won the sixth season of WWE's old Tough Enough show, but she didn't end up making a splash on the roster. It had to be agony for Wesley to even continue working once his wife passed. Simply agony. Fingers crossed the man is as happy as he can be, all things considered.

His shot at WWE glory eluded him, but Blake can still help some fledgling stars get started on their own path.
