72. Mojo Rawley

Then: Mojo Rawley was tossed between babyface and heel status during the last leg of his WWE journey. Nothing managed to stick. Fans didn't particularly care about what he was doing as a spirited babyface, and the hyped up, menacing heel personal Mojo tried to cultivate ultimately went precisely nowhere.

He was on the shelf going through some health issues tied to COVID when the call came in to let him go on 15 April 2021. Yes, as you can tell from this article, that was a dark day for the WWE roster. "Spring cleaning", it was called. "Budget cuts", they claimed.

Now: Rawley hasn't wrestled a lick since losing to Shorty G on the 19 June 2020 SmackDown. Recently, Mojo alerted the pro wrestling media and the general fanbase that he's calling it quits. Previously, he'd been on and off teasing a return to action for close to 6 long years, but it looked increasingly unlikely the longer time marched on.

Now, we all know for sure what the scoop is: Rawley has retired from active wrestling.

Who knows? He could well make a comeback someday as a talking head on pre-PLE panels, or as a commentator/on-air character. That seems like a long shot considering how long he's been gone though. Would younger fans even know who Mojo is? It's not like he was some huge mega-star before leaving anyway - he was just an aspiring midcarder who wanted to do his best and bring the energy levels up whenever he was on TV.

Thanks for those puzzling mirror promos, if nothing else.
