Then: Being promoted to WWE's main roster in January 2020 should've been the start of big things for one Vanessa Borne, but it was actually the beginning of the end. Borne wouldn't take her proper bow on Raw or SmackDown before being cut in May 2021. Yep, she spent the best part of a year and a half wondering exactly when Vince McMahon and crew were going to do something/anything with her.

That day would never come.

Now: Not many wrestlers can say this after leaving WWE, but there were around 2 years between Vanessa's last match with the company and her first with rivals AEW. She debuted on the 5 February 2022 tapings of Dark vs. Marina Shafir. That match didn't wind up airing for fans until early-March.

Since then, the renamed Danielle Kamela (Borne's real name) has worked a further 21 matches for All Elite and on the independent scene. She's also dabbled in some acting too, which is something the WWE hopeful had been doing before signing on the dotted line to train and work on NXT.

Both Rikishi and Gangrel had a say in Vanessa's training, so they're surely disappointed that she didn't get to make more of an impact once McMahon left and Triple H took over. In other words, those trainers might be wondering why Borne didn't get a phone call to bring her back into the mix like so many others.

Fingers crossed the 37 year old is having fun splitting time between wrestling and the acting game.
