Every WWE Release Of 2021 - Where Are They Now? (Five Years Later)
26. Scotty 2 Hotty
Then: Former Too Cool member and fine purveyor of 'The Worm' Scotty 2 Hotty rejoined WWE in 2016 and worked his way towards becoming one of the most popular trainers at the company's in-house Performance Center. By 2021, he grew frustrated by Vince McMahon's bizarre demands and whim-based management.
So, he requested his release in November and started wrestling extensively around the place on independent shows. That was fun for a while (Scotty still pulls on the tights for matches even in 2026), but his true calling nowadays is as a mentor/trainer/agent/producer.
Now: Hotty showed up in AEW as a cameo artist, then signed with Tony Khan's league to become a producer behind the curtain. Again, that's a solid role for him. Scotty has been involved in wrestling since 1989, which might surprise those who only really got in-step with his career once he formed Too Cool alongside Grandmaster Sexay and Rikishi in 1999.
Nope, Hotty can trace his wrestling roots back to the days when Hulk Hogan was battling Randy Savage at WrestleMania V.
Many fans know by now that he also trained to become a firefighter in 2013. That worthy pursuit proved personally satisfying for Scotty, but he's a wrestling guy and always has been. Helping out behind the scenes at AEW is more gratifying for the veteran, but fans can still look out for him on independent cards globally.
You never really know where Scotty 2 Hotty might bring his worm. So to speak. He's a popular nostalgia act wherever he travels.
