The tease: old footage of Keiji Mutoh, in full Great Muta guise, was shown in the original teaser trailer from around 2014.

The likelihood of it happening: 60%

The Great Muta, Keiji Mutoh, call him whatever you like, but the recent GHC Heavyweight Champion should have at least one major IMPACT match before calling it quits on his 37-year career. Singles outings vs. Mr. Anderson and Robert Stone, the former Robbie E, aren't exactly marquee.

When he's not actively competing himself, the icon is also running WRESTLE-1, a company that he also founded. Diehard fans will recall the working agreement between his promotion and IMPACT from 2014, which resulted in one of IMPACT's One Night Only events being co-promoted with Mutoh's company and filmed in Tokyo. Keiji teamed with Taiyo Kea and, erm, Rob Terry there.

With regards to Mutoh's actual ability now, he can still go, hence why he held the GHC Heavyweight Championship as recently as last month. As far as your writer is concerned, though, he shouldn't be at Slammiversary physically, but rather appear via pre-taped vignette to set up a singles match at Bound For Glory. His opponent could even be determined via a small tournament, too; it gives it that big fight feel in the end.
