This is SANADA's first G1 Climax, and his introduction to the tournament could not be any tougher. He main events the first night on July 18 against Hiroshi Tanahashi, before repeating that status in his next match on July 23 against Kazuchika Okada. As far as starts go, that is pretty tough.

The final round of matches in Block A are headlined by Okada taking on Tanahashi, and it is safe to assume that that could very well be a straight shoot-out for winning the block. That takes place on August 12 in Tokyo's Sumo Hall.

As for Block B, there are a number of matches throughout that could be considered key or must-see. On July 27, Katsuyori Shibata takes on Michael Elgin in a match that is guaranteed to be impressive. The final night in Block B pricks interest however, as Tetsuya Naito takes on Kenny Omega and Shibata fights EVIL.

Will EVIL scupper Shibata's plans, allowing his faction leader to win the block?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
