Former WWE worker Heath Slater has joked that Vince McMahon "will be back in a year".

Heath responded to Vinnie Mac's retirement tweet by quoting it and claiming that his old boss will be on screens again before the end of 2023. The IMPACT Wrestling star's post did have some tongue-in-cheek vibes, but people involved in pro wrestling have seen this retirement sketch before.

Will McMahon be the next to announce his, then return to work like nothing happened? Slater isn't convinced he can stay away, and he reckons Vince will be backstage with a headset on before anyone even knows it.

Interesting.

WWE released Heath from his contract right at the start of the COVID pandemic on 15 April 2020. That ended his 14-year stay with the promotion, but Slater did pop back up on the 6 July Raw that same year to work a brief match vs. old 3MB partner Drew McIntyre.

Other responses to Vince's retirement have ranged between supportive and critical, but Slater sat firmly in the middle. He's skeptical, more than anything, and wanted to have a little fun with the thought of someone so close to the business definitively retiring.
