Former WWE Tag-Team Champion and one-time SmackDown star René Duprée recently told 'Rewind, Recap, Relive' that the company has tried to unsuccessfully bring him back "for years".

Duprée claims that the only thing stopping him from making a WWE return is the fact that he'd have to live in the United States. "Mentally", he's not really up for that, so neither party has been able to thrash out terms on a deal.

René is best-remembered as a member of La Résistance alongside Sylvain Grenier between 2003-2004; WWE teamed Grenier with Rob Conway once Duprée splintered from the group and launched a solo run over on SmackDown. Then, he ended up leaving the promotion altogether in 2007 following a failed tag sprint alongside fellow straggler Kenzo Suzuki.

Since then, Duprée has been spotted in All Japan, Pro Wrestling NOAH and in various independent companies worldwide. He's rarely been linked with a WWE comeback publicly, so it might be news to some that René has been in on and off talks with top brass for a long time now.

There's still a chance Duprée could come to an agreement with WWE someday. Don't hold your breath though.
