Former WWE wrestler Melina is heading for ACL surgery

Speaking on Vickie Guerrero's Excuse Me podcast, the four-time Women's/Divas Champion confirmed that her ACL is in a bad way, though she hasn't yet arranged to go under the knife (h/t POST Wrestling for the transcription):-

"The sad part is I was told that I have — well basically, my ACL is hanging by a thread I think. I need to call the doctor and have them explain it to me, but that’s what was explained to them. They’re like, ‘No, her ACL is shot.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve been working on this knee and I didn’t even know this.’ So I need surgery and the thing is I don’t when I’m gonna get surgery, when I’m able to do that and by the time I do that and I heal, will I still be able to come back? Will my body still hold up?"

Last September saw Melina linked with a WWE return when it was reported she had agreed on terms on a deal to come back on a full-time basis for the first time since 2011. Last month, Melina revealed that the deal had fallen through as she "has a bad knee and can't wrestle."

The 41-year-old was last active on the indie circuit and in the NWA, with her last bout going down in February 2020. There's currently no word on whether or not she will be involved in the NWA's comeback, though she obviously won't be wrestling.

All the best to Melina in her recovery.
