Having himself recently returned from a spell on the sidelines, AEW's Adam Cole has provided a health update on his long-time friend Kyle O'Reilly.

During an appearance on Wrestling Observer Radio (via Fightful), Cole detailed how O'Reilly is "doing really well" and that the pair speak on a daily basis.

"I talk to him every day. He's doing good. He's doing really well. He's in a situation now where he's working so hard to make sure that he gets healthy as soon as he possibly can, but at the same time making sure that he doesn't rush back. Kyle was really banged up and it got to a point where he kind of couldn't take it anymore. I'm so glad that he got fixed and got healthy and is recovering day by day, every day."

The longest reigning NXT Champion in history continued on:

"Early on in the process, I think he was so discouraged because there was so little that he was able to do, but now as time goes on and he's starting to be able to do more and more in therapy and rehab, you see the excitement and wheels turning of him already thinking about how he can't wait to get back. He's in good spirits and he has a lot of people around him that love him a lot."

AEW President Tony Khan revealed last June that Kyle O'Reilly was injured, and the star himself soon followed those comments up to explain how he was "really banged up".

KOR made his AEW debut on December 2021's Holiday Bash episode of Dynamite, immediately joining forces with his former Undisputed Era buddies Adam Cole and Bobby Fish. Of course, this came after O'Reilly's WWE contract expired earlier that month, and the talent was quick to pen a five-year deal with All Elite Wrestling.

Kyle last competed for AEW on the 8 June 2022 episode of Dynamite, where he came up short against Jon Moxley in a match to crown a new #1 contender for the AEW World Title that had just been vacated by CM Punk.
