A huge part of the 'Attitude Era' ethos was pushing the envelope like never before. This wasn't only done by characters like Steve Austin who used colourful language, nor was it solely down to figures like Sable to show more flesh than ever before. Crazier match types also became the norm.

One of the most outlandish was the first ever 'Tables, Ladders & Chairs' Match at the SummerSlam 2000 pay-per-view. The Hardy Boys had rocked the house with Edge & Christian at No Mercy 1999 in a Ladder Match, later adding The Dudley Boyz to the fray at WrestleMania. TLC was an extension of that mayhem.

The later main event careers of Jeff Hardy and Edge can be directly linked to what they were willing to do during bouts like this one. Massive bumps through tables and off of ladders were the glue that held TLC together, people had never witnessed such a string of risks in one match before.

TLC is still a concept WWE make use of today, some 16 years later. It has arguably lost some sheen, but fans still love watching these incredibly spectacular spotfests.
