How WWE Might FINALLY Bring A Big Four PPV Back To The UK

WWE Saudi Arabia

Newcastle United's stadium is St. James' Park. Even its capacity of 52,000 is iconic in this country, for it is almost invariably followed by "...screaming geordies". Or at least it was, before the unambitious and obnoxious previous regime hollowed out the soul of the club. The prospective new owners will bring with them a sense of excitement, hope, and investment. Fans will respond with incredible enthusiasm in the form of sheer, roaring volume.

Hosting a KSA-funded WWE event inside St. James Park' is in theory an opportunity for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to kill two birds with one stone. That's an unfortunate turn of phrase, given the UK colloquialism for women and Saudi's treatment of them, but you get the idea!

It's a huge international event with, theoretically, relatively little of the attendant controversy. It's not held in Saudi Arabia itself. It's sports-washing, it just doesn't so obviously smack of it; there remains obvious scope, on commentary, signage and video, to insidiously place any messaging as the KSA sees fit. That two established western powerhouses have associated their brands with the KSA rather forces through the message.

WWE could be motivated to promote a Big 4 PPV for the obvious financial gains - but there's also sweet, sweet spite to consider!
