One of John Cena's peers DOESN'T think he'll be gone from WWE for good after 13 December.

Rusev doesn't believe that John Cena will retire for good at Saturday Night's Main Event on 13 December. The WWE returnee, who came back for his second stint in the promotion following mixed fortunes over in AEW, told Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports that he can totally see 'Super Cena' going back on his retirement vow at some point in the future.

In fact, Rusev wants to see it.

Rather definitively, the Bulgarian told the show this: "I’m not holding my breath". That flies in the face of the way Triple H and his writers are presenting John's final bout in mid-December. WWE are making a lot of noise about this being Cena's final in-ring showing under the company banner. Interestingly, that would still (in theory, at least) leave him open to appearing in a non-wrestling role afterwards.

Cena's priority will be tackling Hollywood and building his career there, but fans should never say never when it comes to pro wrestling. Most know that by now, and even insiders like Rusev feel the same way. He added: "I love John and this may be his last match of this century or whatnot, but at some point I want to see him back. Whenever that is".

WWE announced a 16-man tournament during the 1 November SNME. It's set to kick off on the 10 November episode of flagship show Raw. During his promo hyping the tourney, Cena himself suggested that stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT and even workers outside the company would be eligible to enter - Rusev is likely to be one of those involved.

The winner will meet him in his final match on 13 December in Washington, DC.
