Jack King's 10 Favourite WWE Matches Of All Time
5. Bret Hart Vs. Steve Austin - WrestleMania 13
Bret Hart and Steve Austin's iconic submission match wasn't just an enthralling bout in its own right - it's also remembered as one of the most significant moments in wrestling history. Regarded by many as the dawn of the Attitude Era (although some place it as far back as King Of The Ring 1996), it saw a perfectly-executed double-turn - never an easy booking step to pull off.
The match has a little bit of everything: a vicious brawl through the crowd, some awesome technical work, and one of the most iconic WrestleMania moments ever - the sight of Stone Cold, his face covered in blood, refusing to tap to the Sharpshooter.
The Rattlesnake would pass out, forcing guest referee Ken Shamrock to award the match to Bret...only for the Canadian hero to finally turn heel, attacking his unconscious opponent! Simultaneously, Austin's face turn was also complete, paving the way for his legendary rise to the top of the wrestling world. Without this match (and the feud behind it), it's doubtful that WWF would have won the Monday Night Wars, and it still stands as a key landmark in wrestling history.
Hidden Highlights: Austin flexes his technical muscles, nailing Bret with several of his own moves - including a nice Russian legsweep, and a second rope elbow drop.
