The move where the wrestler stands behind their opponent, grabs them around their waist, lifs them up, and falls backwards while bridging their back and legs, slamming them down hard to the mat shoulders and upper back first. The most common wrestler you think of to execute it is Brock Lesnar. And John and Brock and German suplexes are famously intertwined, thanks to a match between the two being carved into fans’ minds as elevating Brock Lesnar to unstoppable monster status.

The main event of SummerSlam 2014 was John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar for Cena's WWE World title. It was impressive, incredible and impactful all in one. Fans expected a wild hard fought brawl, similar to their Extreme Rules match a few years prior when Brock re-debuted (which Cena won). But no, fans were treated to an absolute squash with Brock hitting a mammoth 16 German Suplexes on Cena, eventually planting him with an additional two F5s for the dominant win. Brock’s monster style wrestling was a thing from then on out.

Later on at WrestleMania 31 against Roman Reigns, Lesnar uttered the famous heckle "Suplex city, b*tch!" You could argue that Brock’s most famous move these days is the German suplex, not the F5. And that was all because Cena allowed Brock to be so dominant that night with it.

Cena took note of this new move, probably because it was done on him 16 times in one match by The Beast Incarnate. Since then Cena’s performed it on wrestlers of various size, from Seth Rollins to Bray Wyatt to Luke Harper to Kane.
