Roman Reigns will not be defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against John Cena at the upcoming Crown Jewel event.

After recently speculating that a SummerSlam 2021 rematch could be on the cards at WWE's next Saudi show, Dave Meltzer has provided an update on 'The Tribal Chief' and 'Face that Runs the Place's plans for the November 4 event.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, despite the recent promos on SmackDown that have seen the Bloodline and Paul Heyman refer to WWE's "GOAT" as the "second greatest of all time", suggesting that Reigns is the real greatest, it was confirmed to Meltzer that a battle between the two icons was "not the match planned for the show."

Reigns will make his first appearance on WWE TV since SummerSlam 2023 on next week's SmackDown, so there's a decent chance fans will learn more about a potential Crown Jewel opponent next Friday Night.

With Cena - who is still being advertised for the Saudi PLE - seemingly out of the picture then, could a certain LA Knight be the person to challenge 'The Head of the Table' next? Or perhaps Roman's next match will be 'Phenomenal'?

All will be revealed in the coming weeks...
