Jumping forwards now, and possibly the last time we see Big Match John in wrestling action. It will never be known whether anybody else could have put that WrestleMania 36 Firefly Funhouse match over as well as John Cena, but the fact that Cena gave the full performance as if he'd just been partying backstage with Black Sabbath helped make this a modern classic.

The ground Cena allowed Bray Wyatt to tread was so personal (You can look, but you can't touch?! Brutal!), and his performance throughout was a testament to just how far he throws himself into the art of wrestling. The introduction of Johnny Largemeat was a particularly amazing turn from Cena, and clearly the character he should return with, should we see him back on WWE television.

Cena has always been able to laugh at himself. It's probably the main reason he's lasted so long with such a divisive fanbase. Turning that WrestleMania XXX story around, and having The Fiend end the match by flipping Cena's words and using them against him was inspired. When he does this kind of self-referential angle, we as fans see the man underneath the performer, aware of the mistakes he's made in the past.
