John Cena's WWE Return: 10 Things We Can Expect

9. Medium Match John

Either side of the Roman Reigns match at SummerSlam, John Cena could work with anybody.

Chris Jericho's AEW run has been a wild success because the company has understood the value of positioning a guy like him against wrestlers he'd never have faced underneath the fairly restricted WWE umbrella. Scorpio Sky, Orange Cassidy and Nick Gage didn't exist in the same wrestling universe as 'LeChampion' once upon a time, let alone the same booker's ledger. These are experimental times, and the company have at least experimented with Cena before.

A roll-back of the glorious 2015 United States Championship run really is too much to ask considering the risks attached, but a series of slightly...softer matches with a bunch of new opponents would be welcome. Up and down the cards on both main roster shows, there are countless wrestlers that would and could benefit from getting live audience experience with one of the company's biggest ever stars. Yes, Roman Reigns is the reason for any sort of in-ring return, but he doesn't need to be the only one.
