Kenny Omega's Wild NJPW Plans Sound INCREDIBLE
Kenny Omega has some amazing plans lined up as NJPW's IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion.
Kenny Omega's stellar Wrestle Kingdom 17 match with Will Ospreay may merely be the tip of the iceberg for a wild year in NJPW should all his plans come to fruition.
The AEW star spoke with Tokyo Sports following his bruising victory over Ospreay, with whom he had been trading insults for much of 2022. Now reigning as IWGP United States Champion for the first time in five years, Kenny, who became the inaugural US champion in July 2017, has some of NJPW's biggest and brightest in his sights.
Jeff Cobb emerged as Omega's first challenger on 5 January's New Year Dash!! show, on which Kenny surprisingly teamed with career-defining rival Kazuchika Okada against Cobb and Aaron Henare. Beyond the Hawaiian, Omega has Shingo Takagi, El Desperado, and Hiromu Takahashi in mind as potential opponents.
Takagi is currently targeting Okada's IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Desperado and Takahashi, meanwhile, currently operate primarily in NJPW's junior heavyweight division.
As well as naming those dream opponents, Omega said that he wants to defend the title in both NJPW and AEW, opening up all kinds of interesting possibilities on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.
