The pinnacle of the Attitude Era... it all went downhill from here.

Fuelled by Limp Bizkit's 'My Way', this main event to end all main events was the jewel in the crown of 'Mania X-Seven that made it the undisputed king of WrestleManias. And since I'm a King, that's why I hold this match in such high regard - the king of the king, if you will.

Following their initial meeting at 'Mania XV, Rock was no longer Vince's puppet in the corporation as his natural transformation into one of the leading faces in the business had taken place, while Austin hadn't been back for too long following neck surgery.

The rivalry just felt real, whenever you draft in a member of a superstar's family it can't help but do so. Austin's missus, Debra, was forced to manage The Rock and got in harm's way a couple of times which only added fuel to Austin's Brahma Bull shaped fire.

This realism was ramped up to unprecedented levels when both men sat down for an interview in the same room. Austin mentioned that he'd do absolutely anything to defeat The Rock - but nobody thought he'd go to the lengths that he did.

Austin quite literally sold his soul to the devil himself by turning on his fans and aligning with Vince McMahon. Three years of feuding was forgotten as arguably the most popular WWE Superstar of all time turned heel in front of his home state crowd.

The match was surprisingly made no DQ before both men took to the ring, the reason for this became clear when McMahon sauntered down the ramp and pulled The Rock off Austin when The Great One had the match won.

The climax to the match saw McMahon hand Austin a steel chair, which was used to dismantle The Rock for a Stone Cold victory.

Story, star power, execution. Sublime.
