Kofi Kingston Confirmed For WWE Championship Match At WrestleMania 35
New Day earn huge spot for their partner on SmackDown.
Kofi Kingston's tortuous journey to WrestleMania finally came to an end on last night's episode of SmackDown, with the New Day member at last granted a WWE Championship opportunity opposite Daniel Bryan.
The show opened with Kofi's stablemates threatening to quit the company following last week's injustice, which saw Kingston fail to earn his WWE title match despite overcoming Vince McMahon's gauntlet. The boss himself was on hand, calling The New Day's bluff and putting themselves in a gauntlet match of their own. Should they have succeeded, Kofi would get his wish. For reals, this time: honest!
The episode ended with Big E and Xavier Wood's multi-man challenge. The Good Brothers were quickly dusted off, before the pair fought to overcome Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev. The Usos forfeited their spot out of respect, though the final opponents - Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan - were obviously much less forgiving.
The contest eventually ended when Big E upended the commentary desk on Rowan to earn a countout win - meaning Kofi Kingston will be challenging Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania for the WWE title.
