Kurt Angle's WrestleMania debut came at WrestleMania XVI, or 'WrestleMania 2000' as it is so irritatingly called. He was a double champion at the time, holding the European and Intercontinental Championships, dubbing himself the Eurocontinental Champion. He had been managed by everyone's favourite crazy uncle, Bob Backlund, but had removed Bob from his duties after he put both of Angle's titles on the line in this match.

This match is arguably hurt a little by the sheer quality of the three men involved, and the expectations that come from such a high calibre of competitors. Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho can all lay claim to being in the discussion for greatest of all-time, and putting the three together seemed to encourage the highest of expectations.

Still, the triple threat match dynamic stopped this match reaching legendary status, not to mention the rushed necessity of getting two falls into a 15-minute match. Angle predictably lost both titles without taking a fall himself.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
