Latest On GUNTHER After Accidental Blood On WWE SmackDown
GUNTHER wasn't supposed to bleed on Friday's WWE SmackDown. Here's an update!
PWInsider is reporting that GUNTHER "seemed OK" when he returned behind the curtain following Ricochet's errant chair shot on Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown.
The high-flyer rushed out to save Braun Strowman from a three-on-one attack at the hands of Imperium. Rico came armed with a steel chair, and he dealt with both Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci before chasing off GUNTHER. That's when Ricochet accidentally dinged the reigning Intercontinental Champ with his weapon.
GUNTHER took the edge of the chair to the side of his head, and he wasn't shown on screen for the rest of the segment. WWE referees and doctors immediately started working on the big Austrian at ringside, and he was bleeding rather heavily.
Officials gave GUNTHER some towels to soak up the blood, then quietly escorted him backstage for further medical attention. On commentary, neither Michael Cole nor Wade Barrett acknowledged that he'd been busted wide open by Rico's chair shot.
Juice obviously wasn't part of the plan; Ricochet wasn't meant to connect with GUNTHER at all. Instead, he was supposed to just miss his target as the Imperium leader escaped.
