Major New Signing Makes WWE Debut

WWE's latest big-name signing made their in-ring debut last night.

Stephanie Vaquer
CMLL

With much speculation over her future in recent weeks, Stephanie Vaquer made her WWE debut over the weekend.

Last week brought word that, with interest from both WWE and AEW, Vaquer had asked to be removed from the rosters of both CMLL and NJPW, in turn vacating the CMLL Women's Championship and the CMLL Women's Tag Team Championship. That news was soon followed by reports that the 31-year-old Chilean had opted to join WWE and would be signing with the market leader immediately.

Saturday saw Vaquer make her WWE in-ring debut as part of the company's Mexico City supershow, with WWE socials touting this appearance ahead of time. At that show, and keeping her Stephanie Vaquer moniker, the hugely talented CMLL favourite picked up a win over Isla Dawn. Pre-match, Vaquer cut a promo stating how she was living her dream and was honoured to be a part of the WWE family.

It's expected that Stephanie Vaquer will initially report to the NXT brand, with her obviously earmarked as having the potential to be a major main roster asset down the line.

As for the CMLL Women's Championship that Vaquer vacated, that was won by Willow Nightingale at CMLL/NJPW Fantasicamania yesterday, with Willow defeating Viva Van and Lluvia in a triple-threat bout for the prize.
