Here's why TJ Wilson hasn't been working as a WWE producer lately.

TJ Wilson has been missing from his regular role as a WWE producer for several weeks now, with Fightful first reporting on his absence from internal runsheets for the week commencing 17 January. A surprise, given his heavy involvement on Raw and SmackDown, but the 41-year-old has seemingly been absent ever since.

Fightful then confirmed on 1 February that Wilson (who wrestled as Tyson Kidd) was still with WWE, though his absence was cited as one of the reasons why this year's Royal Rumble matches were described as "complete chaos."

In this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer writes that while there was word, internally, that Wilson was "quitting" WWE, this was a miscommunication. Wilson will eventually be back in his producer's role and remains on good terms with his employers.

Neck issues are behind Wilson's current absence. Meltzer writes that while Wilson is able to function, his neck is still in "terrible" shape and can flare up, which appears to be the case here.

June 2015 saw Wilson suffer a severe spinal cord injury while taking a Muscle Buster from Samoa Joe during a Raw dark match, ultimately ending his in-ring career. TJ himself tweeted in the aftermath that only 5% of those who suffer the same injury survive.
