Former AEW and WWE star Malakai Black is now officially a free agent.

This is per confirmation from PWInsider.com, who noted that;

"Black’s contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) expired yesterday, and the company has since removed him from their official roster page."

Former NXT and AEW Trios Champion Black originally signed with AEW in 2021 after being released by WWE following a four year stint across the developmental brand and main roster. During his time with the challenger brand, Black feuded with the likes of Cody Rhodes and Adam Copeland, and led The House of Black; a faction featuring Brody King, Julia Hart, and Buddy Matthews.

Though the act experienced mixed fortunes during their tenures, Hart did also become TBS Champion, and the group briefly initiated a "House Rules" gimmick that at very least added a bit of sizzle to their 2023 run. His time, however, was marred with rumours of his unhappiness or desire to leave, particularly after separate occasions where he'd wave goodbye to fans after major matches before confirming or denying rumours online after the fact. AEW has rebranded the remaining members of the House Of Black as The Hounds of Hell in line with his confirmed departure this time around.

It was under Triple H's creative stewardship that Black became NXT Champion and had his most prosperous period within WWE, and with 'The Game' now overseeing the main roster's direction, speculation is rampant that Black could be on his way back to the company.

More on that as and when it develops.
