New Faction Debuts On AEW Dynamite

Erm.

Butcher And Blade
AEW/FITE TV

In a...weird development, AEW debuted a new tag team on last night's episode of Dynamite.

After Cody quickly dispatched enhancement talent Matt Knicks, an opening appeared in the ring canvas from which two relative unknowns emerged: the 'Butcher' and the 'Blade'. Excalibur hammered this home, but the dissonance was unavoidable: Jim Ross was as bewildered as everybody in the Sears Center and, you expect, virtually everybody watching at home.

They attacked Cody and dropped him with a strange-looking double team move. Either the Blade or the Butcher seemed to just fall flat on his back without even touching Cody. If this was an attempt at a back-stabber, it was botched, and that was the best-case scenario.

Allie then emerged from under the ring, wearing leather, turning heel from out of nowhere after her enthusiastic, heartfelt promo last week. Weird, but not entirely uninteresting. The confusion at least brings with it questions: is this trio in some way associated with MJF? Is this just a means of protracting that programme? Who are these people?

A not at all auspicious debut, but hey, if they can make the Dark Order halfway interesting...
