4. SANADA Vs. Lance Archer

There was a certain irony to how Lance Archer effortlessly used every camera pointed towards him during a couple of the sh*tkicking sessions he inflicted upon SANADA during their opener.

The seven-footer maximised every moment when he spied a lens, flashing devilish looks on rope chokes, scowling on the sell, and even smashing the LIJ man’s head into a ringside cameraman’s equipment as the brawled on the floor. It’s this sort of environment engagement that’s made Archer such a magnetic performer in this year’s event, and it's that through-the-screen magnetism that might be the only missing piece of the SANADA puzzle.

Buzzing from his victory over Kazuchika Okada, ‘Cold Skull’ again prospered in a seemingly unwinnable war against Suzuki-gun’s biggest weapon, buoyed by yet another crowd thoroughly on his side.

Wailing for his comebacks and popping for his patter, the audience were bound tightly to his cause despite his middling efforts to return the favour. He’s a thrilling work-in-progress for sure, but if rumours are believed about WWE interest of late, he should probably actually start to realise it.
