NWO, WCW And When Too Suhweet Became Sour

It Was New

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfQ3IH-TWVI The nWo idea was certainly lifted at least initially from an idea from Japan but the way it was presented and marketed to fans was something completely out of the box. Black and White messages cut together like a music video with an amazing guitar riff as the soundtrack allowed people to immediately see them as different from what they believed WCW was- colourful and rooted in tradition. At a time when WCW was relying on the acquisition of WWE stars, as well as NWA stalwarts such as Ric Flair and Sting, the nWo was incredibly important for WCW for identifying themselves as unique to the competition. Thanks in a large part to the nWo, when one wanted to watch a wrestling show during the Monday Night Wars, WCW became as the more innovative wrestling show- despite the fact its top stars were made up from a lot of the competition's old roster.
