One MIND-BLOWING Secret From Every Year Of WWE History

7. 2018 - The Real* Reason For The Televised McMahon Apology

In December 2018, after a catastrophic year of poorly-received creative, the McMahons pulled a publicity stunt.

They entered the ring on Monday Night Raw and apologised for how dire the product was. Well, Stephanie did. She said “We haven’t been doing a very good job for you lately” after Vince had put himself over as a “brilliant” man who, rattled by “What?” chants, declared that he didn’t need the help of an audience he was meant to appease. The storyline heat was shifted onto heel authority figure Constable Corbin, who was only reading Vince’s dire last-minute scripts. WWE never did improve - 2019, somehow, was significantly worse.

So why did WWE say they were going to do something about it, only to do less than nothing?

Well, Vince might have simply thought he was right all along a few days later.

Or - and this is more Twitter gossip than something reported by a known journalist - the “rumour and innuendo” is that WWE thought they had persuaded the Elite to join the company.

The timeline might not check out, but it would be very WWE to think they’d wrapped it up; after all, they’re still expecting Sasha Banks to come back to “the family” any day now…
