Tough Enough alum given controversial new persona.

WWE Tough Enough competitor Patrick Clark, who was signed after the conclusion of the reality show and assigned to NXT, has been given a new gimmick by the company - that of a Donald Trump supporter.

At Friday's live event in Bartow, Florida, Clark cut a sexist promo about how women belong in the kitchen instead of the ring, and the following evening in Jacksonville, Clark wore a Trump shirt. He has doubled down on the gimmick on Twitter, posting further sexist comments and making reference to Trump.

Trump's campaign, which began in earnest last June, has seen the former host of The Apprentice promise to enforce policies that are terrifyingly discriminatory. He has endorsed violence against African Americans, Muslims, and other minority groups throughout the course of it, with his supporters often committing assaults at his rallies.

African-American star Clark being given the gimmick of a Trump supporter would seem to be an offensive attempt at a joke by the backward WWE writer behind the character. The fact that the gimmick has been greenlit shows how classless the company continues to be.
