Peacock's WWE Network Edits Apply To ALL Platforms, Not Just United States

Controversial moments are being trimmed from ALL WWE Network platforms, not just Peacock.

NBCUniversal's ongoing quest to scrub old WWE Network content before uploading it to the Peacock platform is impacting the existing Network service as well.

Last week saw NBCU begin the process of editing out old, controversial footage inherited through their billion-dollar deal with WWE, such as Vince McMahon using a racial slur in front of Booker T at Survivor Series 2005 and Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown at WrestleMania VI, which Piper contested with half of his face painted black.

While it was initially assumed that these edits were only for Peacock, this isn't the case. Navigating to the aforementioned moments on the existing Network platform (including outside of the United States) reveals that they have been removed entirely.

WWE issued the following statement on the ongoing process over the weekend:-

"Peacock and WWE are reviewing all past content to ensure it fits our 2021 standards."

The Network completes its full transition to Peacock on 5 April. Users must sign up for a brand new account through NBCU from that date, as the old Network ceases to exist in the United States. The old service will remain in operation for customers in other regions.
