Following WrestleMania, SmackDown won't have a heavyweight champion. In order to crown a deserving brand leader, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan will host a 16-man tournament for the WWE World Title. Included in the tournament will be former champions John Cena, AJ Styles, and Dean Ambrose, as well as several up-and-comers, and a surprise entrant.

That surprise superstar will be Cesaro, whom SmackDown managed to poach from Raw upon the end of his contract. "The Swiss Superman" will finally be on the brand on which he belongs, and able to get the push he deserves. He'll make it to the finals of the tournament, where he'll take on AJ Styles.

That final-round match will come at May's SmackDown-brand PPV, ending a month-and-a-half of the blue brand going without a champion. The bout will be a classic - and Styles will do his best to bend the rules for a win - but ultimately, Cesaro will hit the Neutralizer for his first world title.
