Predicting The Next 10 Years Of WWE WrestleMania Main Events
5. Triple H Vs CM Punk - WrestleMania 36
A bold prediction for sure, but do you really envision CM Punk never returning to WWE? Everyone goes back eventually. Whatever happened between Punk and WWE will be ancient history by six years time. We'd imagine that Punk would take stock of his situation as he enters his early forties. The money will get more and more tempting with each passing year, and we'd guess half a decades time would be the breaking point - the now or never moment. Plus, with the offer of a show closing WrestleMania main event, CM Punk will surely get back to work. This is the one thing he never achieved. Upon his return, there's only one match that would make sense, a WrestleMania main event against Triple H. It wouldn't need the title, the championship match would be relegated to the midcard, because Punk vs Hunter sells itself as the biggest match in an age. It'll be what we've all waited for, ever since Punk walked out on the match proposed for WrestleMania 30. WWE would book some of the real elements into the narrative, creating a feud that would be deeply personal and engaging to the viewers. Punk would play babyface and Hunter would be the heel owner, exactly how it might've played out had they met at Mania 30. The winner would have to be Punk, returning triumphantly for one last big run. This would also mark Triple H's retirement, closing his career aged 50 with what surely be a great wrestling contest.
