Predicting WWE's 10 Champions At The End Of 2018

1. WWE Universal Championship - Dean Ambrose

It seems to be a foregone conclusion that Roman Reigns will win the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34, and thoughts have already turned to the question of who will dethrone the Big Dog. Will it be Braun Strowman? Finn Bálor? How about a returning Bobby Lashley?

The answer to all of those questions is ‘no’, and Dean Ambrose is the reason. The Lunatic Fringe is currently out with a long-term injury, and is not expected to return until the latter part of the year. There is never a good time to get injured, but the expected nine months out will give Ambrose time to heal up and rest after years as WWE’s most active performer.

It will also allow him to return as a fresher character, and a heel turn is almost definitely on the cards. Turning on Reigns is a risky move, as the WWE Universe is always likely to cheer anyone that attacks Roman. Despite this, it is the move that makes most sense. Ambrose attacks Reigns and turns heel in the process, before defeating Roman for the WWE Universal Championship.

Of all the title holders posited in this article, this one feels like it could well be the likeliest. Ambrose proved in 2016 that he is a more than capable world champ, and the popular opinion is that he will be of more value to WWE as a bad guy. Two birds, one stone.
