Few stars have been handled quite as well as the current reigning United States Champion has since The Archer of Infamy made his way onto the main roster post-Royal Rumble 2021. His work in the lead-up to Bad Bunny's exceptional performance at last year's 'Mania 37 PPV in particular was admirable, while Damian Priest's journey to becoming the holder of Raw's mid-card belt was also equipped with noteworthy showcases of his ability and the chance for crowds to fully get behind the former NXT man.

However, the same cannot be said for former NXT Champion Keith "Bearcat" Lee. For medical reasons out of the star's control, Lee was off television for a significant spell at the start of 2021, but has since made a stuttering return to Monday nights. Losses to Bobby Lashley and Karrion Kross were made more damning by the sight of Lee not letting loose the outstanding abilities that brought him to the dance in the first place.

In a dream scenario, Lee would be given the freedom to be the performer fans fell in love with on the indies and in NXT, soaring through the air, pulverising folk, and all with a twinkle in his eye. But even if he's ordered to stick to a more traditional "WWE Big Man" style from now on, there's a world where Lee and Priest could still put on a fun throw-down in front of a gripped 'Mania 38 crowd.

Throw in a shiny U.S. title strap up for grabs and a match in the same vein as Riddle and Sheamus' unexpected delight on last year's card could very much be in the offing.
