It's actually difficult to argue that there's a pro wrestler on the planet currently having a better 2019 than The Ariel Assassin. After becoming a two-time Best of the Super Juniors winner and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, he has categorically staked a claim to fill New Japan's Best Bout Machine void that has been left in Kenny Omega's wake.

A long-standing jaw-dropper on the British independent scene, Ospreay has arrived to a global audience in a big way over the last 12 months. Dispelling the unfair criticisms that he entirely reliant on big spots and high-flying, he has reinvented both his body and his style as something far harder hitting. A surprisingly understated G1 run (many had tipped his as a potential winner) didn't distract from the quality of the matches, and his Night Seven match vs Okada going down as a career highlight.

At only 26 years of age and with a stock rising quicker than he scales turnbuckles, Ospreay will have serious ambitions of topping this list in the coming years.
