3. Randy Orton Vs. Christian (Money In The Bank 2011)
Christian and Randy Orton's series of matches throughout the summer of 2011 were some of the best on WWE TV that year, so it only makes sense that one of their matches makes the cut on this list of awesome Orton matches. While the action was invariable good in all of their contests, I have decided to go with the one I felt had the best story. Going into Money in the Bank, The Viper was the reigning World Heavyweight Champion and he was defending the title against Christian, with the stipulation that if Orton got himself disqualified, Christian would win the title. This gave the match a great dynamic because from the get-go Captain Charisma was bringing in a chair to try and goad Randy into getting himself DQ'ed so he would lose the title. We all know Orton is a great wrestler, but throughout this match he had to tell the story of him not losing his cool and trying to keep his composure in order to keep his title. Christian's job was easy, he just had to make Orton snap, which he'd done so many times in the past. There are so many points when Randy looks like he's about to lose it but pulls himself back in at the last second. It really was a brilliant character performance by him. In the end, as The Legend Killer was about to hit his signature RKO, Christian did the unthinkable and spatin his face. This was too much for Orton, who kicked his opponent in the cojones and cost himself his World Title. In the post-match, Randy continues to tell a great story because he's so enraged that he loses control completely, refusing to let the new champ celebrate and nailing him with two RKOs on the announce desk.
