In December 2013, WWE advertised the most important match in the history of WWE as World Champion John Cena would battle WWE Champion Randy Orton in a Unification match to determine the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The problems started the week before the show when the whole crowd chanted for Daniel Bryan during a Championship Ascension Ceremony. In the end, Cena defeated Orton at TLC, but at least it was over and both men could move on to new feuds. That, or they could have a rematch the next month at the Royal Rumble. Yeah, that. This match falls into a similar category as the Sheamus match in that it sucked not because the wrestling was bad but because the fans in the building had zero interest in the match. The negative chants led to the match being a complete washout and a symbol for how the crowd felt about Cena vs. Orton, which they'd seen about 11,674 times over the years. After the usual boos for John Cena, they transferred to calling Orton "boring" when he'd go down to the mat and apply a hold. The two tried to recover the match but things escalated and got worse as the audience chanted "this is awful", which was visibly getting to short-tempered Apex Predator. I watched the match back before compiling this list and I think it deserves to be in this section. WWE fans did not want to see John Cena face Randy Orton and they told the company as much throughout this match.
