Randy Orton Taking Time Off WWE?
Viper to miss February and March.
WWE star Randy Orton is to take some time off during the early part of 2018, according to PWInsider.
The 13-time world champion will reportedly work what is being referred to as a "light schedule" in January.
He will then take a sabbatical during the months of February and March after making an appearance on the 6/2 TV taping.
While he is not scheduled to feature in the company's May European tour, Orton is advertised for the post-WrestleMania episode of SmackDown in April.
This news represents a stiff blow to SmackDown, which suddenly looks noticeably bereft of star power amid the continued absence of "free agent" John Cena.
Without much in the way of main event alternatives, it may also mean Jinder Mahal remains the number one contender for the WWE Title heading into the Royal Rumble next month.
As for Orton's long-term future, there is currently no suggestion that he is considering turning his back on a full-time spot on the roster.
However, it is an open secret that the 37-year-old has suffered from persistent shoulder problems for much of his career, including a major injury that sidelined him for much of 2016.
