Ranking 15 Four Horsemen - From Worst To Best

12. Paul Roma

Whenever discussion comes up about who was the worst Horseman, Paul Roma (pictured centre)’s name inevitably tops the list. Why is this? Well, Roma wasn’t exactly Horsemen-level at any point in his career, not as a worker, not as a character, not as anything. He joined in early 1993 and didn’t last a year, leaving the group to join Paul Orndorff and continue his career or middling tag-team success. Paul Roma should never have been a Horseman.

So why does he rank higher than such names as Sting and Sid then? Well, Paul Roma did kind of fit the Horsemen in a variety of ways. Miscast as a face for sure, Roma as a heel Horseman would have made sense. He was the smarmy self-obsessed heel look down pat. His in-ring ability certainly wasn’t elite-level, but above the likes of Sid, Mongo and Luger.

Paul Roma is the definition of a failed Horseman, but at the same time he doesn’t deserve the vitriol that was thrown his way. It’s just a case of wrong person, wrong time.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
